Michael arrived on Sunday, and we are having a good time.
He is a very gentle young man, self contained, curious, and openminded and hearted.
He gets on well with our three boys.
His English is ok, so it is easy for him to communicate with all of us.
We laugh a lot and enjoy many of the same things.
The weather so far has been very wet, so not much going out. Today is better and we are going cycling this afternoon :-) .

Just to let you know JP left yesterday after his last lesson (& English Breakfast).
Philip went running with him a couple of times & we invited some friends over so he could socialise with other people, but there wasn't a lot of free time to do much else.
I felt that his English fluency & comprehension improved thoughout the course of his stay. I think I gave him enough help with materials & vocabulary to improve the flow of his sales presentations - but he will have to continue to work hard at it ! I'm going to send him some website links to encourage him to continue practising. We enjoyed his company & would welcome him back any time - it's just a shame he is 5 hours away.
Thanks again for the contact. Incidentally, I may be going back to the UK in January for 6 weeks but if you think you might have any students I could re-schedule.

It was a fantastic week with Jane and Rob. I think to have to improve my English. Jane and rob are excellent teacher. I 'm not get bored. I'm really enjoyed. Rob and Jane are very interesting.

Fred left yesterday and I wanted to let you know that everything went well.
We really enjoyed his stay and found him to be good fun and very interesting.
He was so motivated to learn and we are confident that he made good progress and was happy with his stay. He has had more than 1 hour tuition per day.
Also the evenings started with informal discussion but rapidly we reached for pen and paper and lessons ensued.
Fred mentioned the possibility of a further visit and we would look forward to seeing him again. He should get in touch with you soon.

Bonjour Nadège. Je reviens vers vous après mon séjour chez Patsy. Tout s’est très bien passé. Patsy est une personne extraordinaire, très chaleureuse et disponible. Nous avons passé beaucoup de temps ensemble, nous avons discuté et énormément rit (il faut dire que nous avons beaucoup de choses en commun ) ce qui m’a vraiment permis d’améliorer mon anglais et de me sentir plus à l’aise dans cette langue. Patsy était très attentionnée, toujours à l’écoute. Son appartement est très confortable. J’ai pu visiter Londres, Patsy m’a donné de conseils très utiles et m’a également proposé de me faire visiter Cambridge , Canterbury et Whitstable et d’autres endroits plus près de chez elle. Magnifique, j’ai été ravie ! Grâce à mon séjour chez Patsy, je me sens vraiment en confiance pour parler anglais. Je n’hésiterai pas à renouveller cette expérience pour parfaire mon anglais. Le séjour se déroule très bien, Jérémy et Suzanne sont extraordinairement sympathiques, disponibles, attentionnés etc... Leurs enfants aussi et très polis.
Leur maison est "very nice" dans un vieux village typiquement anglais, je crois!
La chambre qui m'est réservée ainsi que la salle de bain sont parfaites, on y dort bien.
La cuisine "à la maison" est très bonne, contrairement à la réputation des anglais de ce coté, je resterais bien quelques jours de plus.
Pour ce qui de l'anglais, j'espère que je progresse, en tous les cas j'ai fait un grand point sur certaines choses que je savais mais qui n'étaient pas claire dans mon esprit. Il me faudra encore apprendre bien sur.

One week with English lessons in England, February 09

Last February, I have been in Brighton in a homestay sought by “Anglais en France”. Why? I’m going to tell you my story (a summary).
I’m Spanish. In my village, there was no choice in foreign language: it was French. When I was 14, I was ill the summer before joining the college, so I couldn’t move to English and I had to study French for four more years. In the university, English was a hard subject for me, but, as it was written, I could have the Aeronautical Engineer Diploma.
Now, I work for Airbus France in Toulouse. I need English every day at my job and I know that my level is not “really perfect”… So, I needed to improve it. To do that, I got in touch with “Anglais en France” and I asked them if they could help me to find a stay in England. My wishes were very limited because I’m married and I have two daughters, so I had to have my stay during the French scholar holydays of February (and moreover not too expensive!!!).
“Anglais en France” found it for me : one week in home stay including 20 hours of English lessons. It was a real good choice for me because the house owner was an English teacher and I could study and practise to improve my English level quickly. I know that one week is not enough but it’s better than nothing … I really enjoyed my stay in Shoreham-by-sea (close to Brighton) and I recommend you the experience.

Hi Nadège, It’s Isabelle ! How are you ? We are all well. I want to give you some news about our holidays with Annabelle, Garry and Geogia. It was very nice and we had a lot of fun with them. They received us as their own family, and they were very patient with us. They spoke slowly, and help us to speak English. We could meet other English families, we went to a party, a barbecue… And we made many things with them. Georgia and Mélanie were really good friends, they were all the time toghether, they wanted to sleep in the same bedroom. Mélanie said that it was the best holidays of her life ! Our dog played with their dogs and cats, it was very good for him, everyday, they went for a walk. It’s dificult for me to write in English, I hope you can understand me. If not, tell me, and I’ll write in French. Annabelle, Garry and Georgia are a nice and lovely family. Well, now I must to go, See you soon, Isabelle

Bonjour Nadège. Nous avons passé une super semaine chez Maggie. Elle nous a fait découvrir sa grande famille animalière : canards, oies, chiens, poules et bouc friand de feuilles de pommiers ; et sa région : château, brocantes, marchés,... Maggie est une femme incroyable, pleine d'énergie qui nous a pris sous son aile dès le premier jour. J'ai vraiment apprécié cette formule de séjour linguistique en France et ne manquerai pas de faire appel à vous pour un prochain séjour. Ci-joint une photo de nous 3. Amicalement.

Noemie is delightful and we have been to the Dior exhibition at Granville, art museums, Mont St Michel, Falaise (to the castle, art glalleries and the automaton museum), a barbecue and the cinema.

Nous avons séjourné chez David et Christine du 5 au 12 septembre 2009.
Ils habitent à Wanstead, petite banlieue "chic" (mais sans trop) de Londres. L'endroit était à croquer avec sa petite rue commerçante qui abrite vieux pubs bon marché, salons de thé et designers vintage.
De chez eux, nous avions vue ou sur leur grand jardin (rare à Londres) ou sur le parc de la commune. De plus ils habitent à 50 mètres du métro et sur la ligne centrale menant au centre de Londres (à 30 minutes).
Quant à Christine et David ils sont tous deux adorables. Dès notre arrivée, Christine nous avait fait faire le tour de la commune et David nous préparait le breakfast tous les matins :-)
Mathias comme moi avions décidé de ne pas prendre de cours d'anglais ayant déjà un bon niveau de langue. Il s'agissait plutôt de "rafraîchir" notre accent.
Nous nous sommes donc beaucoup promenés dans Londres et avons visité de nombreux musées (lesquels, à Londres, sont gratuits, ce qui est appréciable). Nous pouvions rentrer à n'importe quelle heure chez David et Christine ce qui nous a également permis de voir beaucoup de concerts.
Un excellent séjour sur tous les plans : bon acceuil, bon anglais, bons musées, bonne musique.

Sarah and Mathias were just delightful to have stay with us. They were no problem at all. They made themselves at home very quickly which is what we like.

Bien sûr cela me fait plaisir, mais j’avoue ne pas être très surprise, car Amélie aime beaucoup les langues étrangères et est sociable. De plus, j’avais échangé 2 emails avec Simone, qui m’a semblée très sympathique.
J’ai eu Amélie au téléphone hier soir et elle est ravie. La famille est très sympa, elle apprécie l’enseignement « à l’anglo-saxonne » très différent du nôtre.
Elle se sent bien à la campagne, se repose tout en ayant déjà fait plein de choses.

Mon séjour chez Debbie et Andy s'est excellement bien passé, ce sont des gens vraiment charmants et j'ai été très bien accueilli.
Je pense que mon anglais s'est amélioré, et mes enseignements aussi, surtout au point de vue de l'oral,
j'ose plus parler et je comprends mieux.
Les leçons de grammaire écrite m’ont permis d'avoir de l'assurance dans la construction des phrases simples.
Je suis très heureux d'avoir fait leur connaissance.

From our point of view Thibaud's visit to us for the week was an extremely enjoyable one.
He integrated extremely well with our family, and our friends who came to stay with us mid week.
He was very polite, helpful and amusing. We all felt it was more like having a friend to stay than a student.
He spoke a lot of English while he was here, and most of the time was able to put his view across extremely eloquently. When Thibaud could not find the words he wanted, he was able to use different words to enable us to help him find the words he wanted to use.
The last day with us, he was able to have an intelligent conversation discussing banker's bonus' with an English banker (our friend). I think that many English 16 year old children would struggle with that!
His written work daily became more adventurous, and although he was not always sure of the grammar, he was not frightened to try to put it down on paper, which helped him learn by his mistakes.
I sincerely hope that Thibaud feels his stay with us helped him progress with his English, both written and oral.

Hello Nadege. Julie has just left and she had a few tears, myself also. Saying goodbye is always the worst part, especially when the Students are like Julie. She was very keen and spoke english all the time and after a few days she came out of her shell and really joined in with our family life. She was a pleasure to have around and we all enjoyed her company. She told myself and the girl's that she had been happy here and enjoyed her visit. Ses parents nous écrivent : "Bonjour Madame,

Basile avait envie de faire un séjour linguistique en anglais mais n'était pas prêt à voyager en dehors de la France. Votre organisation permet de vivre dans une famille anglaise tout en restant en France et c'est cela qui a été déterminant dans la réalisation de son projet. Ce séjour était en effet sa première expérience de voyage entièrement seul, en particulier pour le trajet (compliqué !).

Il est revenu enchanté de sa semaine chez Elena et Ramon chez qui il est parti en grande confiance, d'une part parce qu'il avait pu choisir sa famille d'accueil parmi les propositions que vous aviez faites et d'autre part grâce aux échanges de mails avec Elena pour préparer sa venue.

Il pense avoir progressé en anglais, en particulier en compréhension et expression orales. Grâce aux heures de cours, il a pu travailler également son expression écrite. Il a beaucoup apprécié ces heures de travail avec Elena.

L'ensemble du séjour s'est très bien passé. A voir l'enthousiasme avec lequel il nous a parlé à son retour de l'ambiance familiale et des activités proposées (autour de la musique en particulier) nous pouvons dire que l'expérience a été importante pour lui !

Si l'occasion se présente, nous recommanderons vos services autour de nous  (même si la Lorraine est assez éloignée de vos familles d'accueil !)

Elena and Ramon who hosted Basile

It has been a pleasure having Basile here with us. I have truly appreciated his way of "joining in with our family". He has been good company, helpful and happy to engage in what was happening.

We have had a good time together all of us, thank you, and thank you to Basile too. I am happy that we had the opportunity to take Basile to experience Murray Head yesterday. I could see Basile was very happy and impressed with the whole thing.

Basile has been working hard on his English all week. We have been reading, writing, talking, singing, listening to music, studying lyrics, and watching movies.

I feel he made progress and I have given him some suggestions on how to keep this up. I have encouraged Basile to listen to the bbc radio for half an hour every week, or more often if he has the time. I wrote down the link for the internet radio in is booklet. There are various subjects to choose from that interest him, news, sports, music. I also suggested a number of book titles for him to read. He can also, when he watches movies on DVD, watch the English language version with the English subtitles. As both of you have a good understanding of English you could also set a specific time every day/week where the three of you have fun speaking English to each other.

Nous vous remercions d'avoir organisé le séjour de Kim Linh et de Maylène en Bourgogne. Merci à Maggie pour s'être si bien occupée d'elles.
Elles ont adoré leur semaine. Nous avons bien vu que Maggie a tout fait pour que les filles se sentent comme chez elles. Elles sont maintenant beaucoup plus à l'aise avec l'anglais oral.
Nos filles ont des caractères tellement opposés, que cela a posé quelques problèmes à Maggie pour les occuper, mais elle s'en est très bien sortie.
Nous renouvelleront l'expérience l'année prochaine, mais en mettant les filles dans 2 familles différentes (sur le conseil de Maggie).
Dans tous les cas, nous sommes ravis de vos prestations.

Bonjour,
Nous avons trouvé notre séjour chez Maggie vraiment génial ! Nous n’avons pas eu le temps de nous ennuyer et tout en anglais bien sur.
Tous les jours, elle nous emmenait faire quelque chose (accrobranche, visites de chateaux, marché…) Nous parlions régulièrement l’anglais et maintenant nous comprenons beaucoup mieux.
Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine à la campagne, entourées d’animaux.

We had a great time!
The tree climbing (accrobranche) was a hit ! They also visited a bee farm, Cormatin chateauz, a maze, had a bourginion meal, some english lessons, made dinner one night, played with lots of puzzles, went to a goat farm where we bought the cheese, and the cave where we bought some wine for their mum.
It was successful.
Today I posted their photos and sent them a card. I do hope I can be of service again.

Deux semaines sans cours, en France, Août 09

Bonjour.
Voici le bilan de mon séjour chez Rachel et Alex :
Tout s’est très bien passé : je me suis très vite sentie à l’aise avec eux. Les garçons étaient très gentils et attentionnés !
Nous sommes sortis plusieurs fois pour visiter une galerie d’art, faire du shopping à Bordeaux ou bien aller à la piscine…
Lorsque nous restions chez eux, nous regardions des films, tous ensemble. Nous avons joué au tennis, au volley et à des jeux de société. J’ai lu un livre parmi la montagne d’ouvrage que Rachel avait sorti…
Je me suis tout de suite senti bien avec Rachel, qui a su me mettre en confiance ! Elle est devenue une très bonne amie !
J’ai beaucoup aimé Alex également qui m’a sincèrement touché en me disant que je serais toujours la bienvenue chez eux !
Et comme je l’ai dit plus haut, Daniel et Charlie étaient tout les deux très gentils avec moi !
Même leurs animaux étaient hilarants !
Je garderais de ces deux semaines de très, très bons souvenirs.
Et merci de m’avoir permis de les connaître !

Alice went home fine, she didn't want to go though. She was lovely & wants to come next year. She can anytime she likes.
I enjoyed it very much, though she was very quiet & shy but we got through it ok.
We will be keeping in touch.

Bonjour, je vous écris ce message pour vous dire que nous avons passé une semaine vraiment extraordinaire : Pauline et Ian ont été super : nous sommes beaucoup sortis, avons appris beaucoup de choses. Ce fut comme un voyage en Angleterre : nous avons parlé seulement l'anglais et avons partagé leur quotidien. Lucie.
Bonjour, tout comme Lucie j'ai trouvé cette semaine géniale! Elle nous a permis de réviser nos bases en anglais et d'apprendre de nouveaux mots ainsi que de nouvelle expressions. Avec Ian nous avons partagé beaucoup de choses comme la guitare , la course a pied le matin , des artistes musicaux... Nous étions en immersion complète ! Nous étions entourés d'anglais , la télé était en anglais , l'ordinateur aussi! J'ai trouvé cette semaine très intéressante , instructive et très sympatique. François
Les enfants ont été très bien accueillis et quand nous sommes allés les chercher, nous les avons trouvés très à l'aise, discutant en anglais comme s'ils l'avaient toujours fait. Lucie et François ont partagé avec Pauline et Ian des centres d'intérêts communs. Au delà de la langue, ce séjour a été très positif pour eux car Pauline et Ian ont su établir des liens amicaux : de retour à la maison, les enfants ont même eu un petit moment de blues. Nous pensons vraiment que Lucie et François ne pouvaient pas "tomber" mieux. Mme Le Gaillard

Just to let you know it's going fantastically.
Lucie and Francois seem to enjoy themselves and learn a lot at the same time. I think we made progress with vocabulary and pronunciation.
Most of all they want to learn which is so rewarding. We actually spend quite a bit of time going over grammar points which is interesting for us too - it's amazing how much you forget !!
There's a hilarious game of Monopoly going on at the moment where the 2 kids are fleecing Ian who's hopeless at board games - I never remembered it being so funny. We've also played croquet and scrabble, been swimming, running and walking, visited a stately home, had English tea with china cups and cakes, had a friend round for dinner, been to a local "rock concert", visited friends with their plunge pool and hot tub and done some gardening, piano and guitar playing.
Tonight we're off to St Antonin to see an English film and tomorrow, the local market and then river swimming.
I have never talked so much in my life but it is paying off. Their English and confidence are growing all the time. Their parents come to collect them on Sunday when we're doing a BBQ for everyone.

Une semaine sans cours, en France, Août 09

Nous avons maintenant recuperé notre fille, elle est tres contente de son sejour.
Suzan et Phillipe sont vraiment des gens charmants, Valentine a bien profité de l'immersion dans ce petit coin anglais en France.
Suzan a vraiment eu le souci de faire des tas de choses avec notre fille, elle lui a fait rencontrer également de jeunes anglais de son âge, ce qui lui fut tres profitable. Nous avons eu nous-mêmes un très agreable contact avec la famille T et ce dès notre première rencontre. Nous sommes donc satisfaits sur tous les points et vous remercions de nous avoir mis en contact avec Suzan et Phillipe.

Guillaume, 16, and Augustin, 15
who stayed with 2 different English families, in France
2 weeks with English lessons, June 09

Nous avons été chercher Guillaume et Augustin hier.
Ils ont été enchantés chacun selon leur caractère.
Les familles d'accueil se sont attachées aux enfants et vice-versa.
Chacun des enfants a trouvé la famille qui correspondait à son caractère. Augustin s'est épanoui durant la 2ème semaine.
Ils renouvelleront leurs expériences l'année prochaine vers une destination en France pour un temps plus long: 3 voir 4 semaines du 15 juillet au 15 août. Maïlys ira aux mêmes dates que ses frères cette année.
Il se peut que vous soyez contactés pour l'année prochaine par des familles qui souhaitent organiser ce type de séjour pour leurs enfants.
A quelle date peut-on se contacter pour mettre en place les séjours d'été??

We’re so pleased that Augustin enjoyed his stay ; he was a pleasure to teach and to take care of. He is a charming young man, and very willing to learn.
This has been our first time hosting in France – we hosted foreign students back in England some time ago – and enjoyed the experience.
In hindsight, we would have taken Augustin’s sister, but we were not too sure how things would work out.
It was particularly good for me to get back into teaching and I look forward to hosting our next student!

Guillaume was charming and a pleasure to have around.
He wasnt that keen on the written side but his parents had warned me he was a little lazy on that front.
Teaching was ok ,it was difficult to know what sort of specific exercises would be the most beneficial so I opted for a whole range of techniques.
We did some comprehension , some tenses some common phrases some grammar challenges on the bbc.

J'allais vous envoyer un e-mail pour vous remercier de l'introduction auprès de la famille S.
Nos filles ont passé un trés agréable séjour . La famille S est charmante, elle a pris en charge nos 2 filles avec beaucoup de simplicité, gentillesse et intérêt.
C'est une famille à recommander. J'espère bien pouvoir y envoyer Blandine l' année prochaine en toute confiance.

Hi, everything went really well & we all enjoyed having the girls to stay.
They were very well behaved & polite & we had a really good time with them.
I took them to a new swimming pool, a riding lesson, lots of walks with the dog & they also had a small ride on my horse.
I hope they also enjoyed it & benefited from the experience.

One week without lessons, in France, June 09

Edouard a passé une très agréable semaine, chez des gens charmants, qui l'on accueilli très chaleureusement.
Il s'est un peu réconcilié avec l'anglais mais a encore du mal à parler, il a un peu honte de ne pas bien parler....! Cela dit, il comprend de mieux en mieux.
Je pense que nous renouvellerons l'opération régulièrement....!
C'est pourquoi, nous tenions à vous remercier car nous sommes très contents de vos services.
Tout a été suivi avec sérieux et dans la confiance. Pour nous, c'était important.

Elizabeth & Clive who hosted Edouard

We certainly enjoyed having Edouard here and were really pleased with the way that he settled in with us and with the progress he made.
At the beginning of his stay Edouard was naturally very quiet and reserved. He said that he hadn't been away from home before. With the small amount of English which he had, we stuck very much to basics and repeated ourselves often. Edouard was very helpful and willing to do anything suggested.
Each day we sat down together and there was a more formal hour of English with the dictionary being much used.
We played a little on the fact that our French wasn't perfect and that it was alright to make mistakes and to ask for help or to ask someone to repeat something more slowly. It boosted Edouard’s confidence.
We told Edouard that he would be most welcome to visit us again. (If he were one of my own children I would be extremely proud of him, he is a lovely lad).
